Rodney B. Hanners

Rodney B. Hanners was appointed CEO of Keck Medicine of USC after serving as interim CEO.

He is responsible for oversight of USC’s clinical activities, including USC Care Medical Group (Keck Medicine’s network of physicians who provide outpatient services and procedures); Keck Medical Center, which includes Keck Hospital and USC Norris Cancer Hospital; USC Verdugo Hills Hospital; USC Arcadia Hospital; and more than 67 outpatient clinics from Bakersfield to Newport Beach and other clinical practices and joint ventures throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Hanners is highly regarded for promoting a culture of trust and teamwork, and is deeply committed to ensuring that physicians and staff receive the support they need to care for themselves and provide exceptional patient care. Prior to this role, Hanners served as chief operating officer for Keck Medicine, as well as the CEO for Keck Medical Center. In these roles, Hanners was responsible for the health system’s acute and ambulatory performance and worked with his executive team to advance quality, service, access, growth and financial performance.

Prior to joining Keck Medicine, Hanners was senior vice president and chief operating officer for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Hanners also previously held various positions in the Kaiser Permanente system, including the position of chief operating officer for Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center.

Preceding his career in health care, Hanners was a naval officer in the United States Submarine force, where he was selected as the Submarine Group 5 junior officer of the year.
